Building Beloved Community:

Social Change as Religious Vocation

and

Who Are Our Neighbors?

Two workshop events hosted by First Unitarian Church in Albuquerque, NM
January 24-25, 2014

Registration is now closed for this event.

Building skills for intercultural communication and community is key to living into the power and potential of our faith. Who Are Our Neighbors introduces participants to a developmental model of engaging with difference and culture. Based on the Developmental Model for Intercultural Sensitivity, it recognizes that each of us has varying degrees of exposure, familiarity, and comfort with differences. Differences can create challenges that can either invigorate or divide a church or community. We cannot benefit from the fullness of each person’s humanity or build the beloved community we yearn for unless we can see and appreciate the differences among us.

Both events are open to laity and religious professionals, high school age and up. Registration is now closed.

As religious/spiritual people, we are called to engaged in social transformation in ways that restore community and build right relationships among us all. Deeply rooted in our Unitarian Universalist faith tradition, the religious vision of Beloved Community is bold, transformational, and desperately needed in our dangerously polarized country.

This is a single day event setting the context for Who Are Our Neighbors? Facilitated by the Rev. Deborah Holder, Minister of Beloved Community Formation for the Pacific Western Region of the UUA.
