Mountain Desert District is governed from the roots up, stemming from traditional ideas of congregational polity established in the Cambridge Platform of 1648.
Our District Assembly, made up of representatives of our member congregations, elects our Board of Trustees and certain other committees, approves our budget, and maintains our by-laws. Our District Executive, hired by the UUA, is an ex-officio member of the Board, and guides our staff and volunteers in upholding our Mission and Vision in service of our congregations. We also have supporting committees, made up of members from our congregations and our district staff. Click here for the MDD 2015 Annual Report.
Our Young Religious Unitarian Universalists (YRUU) are governed by an elected Youth Adult Committee, and maintain their own by-laws as well.
