The Freedom Fund: Our Clients

The women who turn to The Freedom Fund for help represent a wide variety of history and circumstances. Here are two stories in their own words:

23 year old Latina, married, 3 children
I am a married mother of 3. I am 23 years old and a college student. I decided to go ahead with this abortion today due to my inability to provide for this child at this time. I had an IUD placed at the beginning of this year as birth control to avoid this situation, but unfortunately I still became pregnant. I have been married to my husband for 5 years and have been with him for 8 years. He has been my only partner and he supports my decision because he is aware of the crisis due to my funding of my higher education and the funding to provide for our 3 children who are 2, 4, and 6. He is our sole provider right now and having another child right now would be very difficult.

The Freedom Fund came to me in a very dark time when I felt completely lost, scared and overwhelmed.
Not ready for a child and struggling to pay rent a child seemed like the worst possible thing. Living off less than $400 a month there was no way I could ever give another life the attention, time and care all beings deserve. I felt stuck, unable to afford a child and the abortion, I felt utterly hopeless. Then I found the Freedom Dun and everything began to look a little brighter. This fund has given me the chance to choose the path that is best for me and my life, without judgment and with compassion.

I now have the opportunity to choose motherhood when I am stable financially, careerwise, and in life. I would never want to bring a child into my current living situation as it is rocky, unstable and tough. I am moved beyond words that such a group exists to help women in a world that so often tries to make women's lives harder. Thank has made the biggest difference in the world to me, and without it I have no idea how scary life would be. They are truly angels making this hard world a better place.
