The women who turn to The Freedom Fund for help represent a wide variety of history and circumstances. Here are two stories in their own words:
41 year old White woman, single, 2 children
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your assistance today. I have been struggling with an extremely abusive relationship and recently found the strength, support, and opportunity to save my & my daughters life. As soon as I left, I found out I was pregnant. As I had no money, and didn’t know what I was going to do. I could not have this child. Thank God for your help. Or life could have been a lot worse for us all. I might have been killed.
31 year old caucasian, single, no children
Hello, and thank you for taking the time to read this. I’m a 31 year old epileptic. I have been told by my doctors that a pregnancy would most likely result in an increase in my seizure disorder, and that my child would most likely end up with epilepsy as well. I do not wish this disease upon anyone, let alone my child.
Four months ago I was laid off of work, unemployment just barely covering rent. My savings is down to my last, and with the help of your grants I was just able to cover the costs. I hope to be in school, and working shortly.
Thank you for granting me the opportunity at a healthy future at my time of need. Your help is greatly appriciated (sic), and will not be forgotten.
28 Latina/Asian Single 3 Children
Dear freedom fund, Thank you so much for helping me. I’ve never believed in this, but not until after I was abused did I open my eyes. I cannot tell you in words how much I appreciate this! I was panicking and I am currently not working due to my disabilities as a result of another domestic violence relationship. I just want to give my daughter a better life as well as myself, so Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
These women and hundreds of others come to The Freedom Fund in crisis, and we do what we can to help. But we cannot assist these women without your financial support. Please click on our Donate link above to make a donation today. The Freedom Fund board and the women we serve thank you.
