Dear Unitarian Universalists of the Mountain Desert District,
Imagine your whole congregation engaged together, from age five to age ninety-five, in a variety of fun, meaningful community outreach activities all over town. Then imagine capturing it all on video and sharing it at the launch of the annual stewardship campaign. Now imagine Unitarian Universalist congregations all across our district doing the same thing after which we put it all together into one magnificent professionally-edited picture and sound show for our October 2010 district annual meeting.
That's MDD in Action, launched in 2007, and already underway in UU congregations across the district. If your congregation is engaged in public ministry (advocacy, service, witness, community organizing, education, etc.) capture these activities on videotape. If that's not possible, take some still photos and join the fun!
Most of you already have relationships with many community-based organizations in town. Call and let them know your congregation is looking for multigenerational volunteer opportunities. Or join together as a cluster of congregations and have a picnic afterwards. Visit the congregational directory (LINK) for a list of neighboring UU congregations and contact information.
Thanks to the generosity of Chris and Steve Sealy of Denver Film and Digital, a promotional DVD is available to help build support in your congregation. Share it at your next board or social action meeting and watch the excitement build. No doubt you'll be inspired to use your newly created video for new member orientation, fundraising activities, and on your website.
All you need to get started is included in this Resource Packet (PDF): MDD in Action Resource Packet

Hope to see you in the movies!
