Los Alamos Evacuations

UPDATE 7/20/11: The Las Conchas wildfire is now at 75% containment, and Los Alamos is getting back to normal. The impact of the fire on surrounding communities is still significant: 63 families have lost their homes, and many individuals are dealing with lost income due to the evacuation. Concerns about flash flooding as the summer rains begin are high, particularly in neighboring pueblos. Self Help, Inc, in Los Alamos is working with individuals who are undergoing hardship due to the fire, and welcomes donations.

Members of the Unitarian Church of Los Alamos are encouraged to check in with either the Unitarian Universalist Church of Santa Fe or First Unitarian in Albuquerque. See the Los Alamos congregation's FaceBook page for details, contact information, and updates.

If you are looking for ways to help the evacuees and rescue workers, please see this page for resources.

Please keep the community of Los Alamos in your hearts as we wait for further information.
